The Japanese automakers which started
selling the updated 2013 versions of both the standard Avalon and Avalon Hybrid
this month, is offering a feature that lets drivers of both models charge up
their portable devices wirelessly inside the car.

They also call it Qi wireless charging systems that involve a charging pad that’s located underneath a lid inside the car’s center console. Put your cell phone on the pad and it charges your phone automatically.

Although wireless charging of mobile
devices hasn’t yet become mainstream in the home or office, it could be on the
road. Toyota is adding a wireless charging pad in the car as part of a
technology package. With the option, drivers and passengers can place a
supported phone on the small console pad for a recharge during travel.
